Convert an Image into a Sketch in Photoshop

September 10th, 2008

In this tutorial I will teach you how to convert a picture into a sketch which can be used in sketch books. Step 1: We will use the photograph below for our tutorial.

Photoshop

Step 2: Duplicate copy of the Background by Selecting the Duplicate Layer Option from the Layer Menu. We do this just in case any mistake is done then we do not end up ruining the original Image.

Step 3: Convert the background into layer by Layer via Copy option in the Layer Menu. We should make a copy so that if we go wrong at any point we have an image to start a fresh from.

Step 4: We will convert the photograph into grayscale by selecting the Desaturate option from the Image.

Step 7: Now select the Color Dodge option from the Blending Mode Menu in the Layer Palette. This will make the image completely disappear.
